Hi, my name is Kendra Smathers, a photographer living in Western North Carolina and specializing in weddings, families, sports or Just for Fun! Oh, and did I mention I'm a wife and proud Mom of two rowdy boys? I think photography is more than just the mechanical act of taking a picture...it is capturing life, joy, sadness, someone's spirit, and should tell each person's special story.  I never realized how important photos were to me until I lost my Dad when I was 19. Of course, now if I could go back I would have had my camera on him every second of the day; to capture that cute way he would always hold a toothpick in his mouth, or the funny way he would sometimes smile and stick his tongue out at  me. I would have captured every white hair on his head, every detail on those hard working hands, and those eyes that always looked at me with such kindness. I would have captured him planting flowers, as he always had our yard looking beautiful with all the perfectly spaced rows of flowers. I say all this because to me photography is leaving a legacy and I know that one day I want my children to be able to re-live every special moment through a photograph.
