Lake Junaluska, NC - You can't miss this lovely lake if you're driving from Interstate 40 to Maggie Valley. The home of the Southeastern Regional of the United Methodist Conference, Lake Junaluska has hotels and housing for many different denominational conferences throughout the year. Over Labor Day weekend, the Smoky Mountain Folk Festival for two nights showcases regionally and nationally known Appalachian musicians and square dance teams in Stuart Auditorium.
Many local residents love to walk around Lake Junaluska year round. In the summer they are treated to the "Rose Walk" where you just have to stop and smell the roses, all of them...LOL...or just watch the many types of ducks and swans floating or flying over the lake. It's beyond meditation.
And if you're anywhere near Lake Junaluska at the fourth of July, you've got to find a spot to park and enjoy the exciting fireworks display reflected over the lake. Way cool.
